I’m Halle, an Anxiety Therapist in Boulder, CO and Portland, OR.
I’m here to quiet down the anxious voice in your mind that keeps you from falling asleep before 2am.
I want you to wake up each day feeling confident about your ability to respond to your anxiety, instead of being overwhelmed by it.
Part of why I work with millennial men, women, and non-binary professionals is because I know what the struggle is like for us. It doesn’t take long to track down the latest research articles that show our generation is anxious as all get out.
Clients I’ve worked with in the past have described me as warm, calming, direct, and practical. Sometimes I even manage to be funny!
And yes, I do want an outcome for you where you don’t feel burdened by anxiety 24/7, but I want something else for you to: for you to trust yourself.
I’m really looking forward to teaching you everything I know about how to work with your anxiety so that you can be a thought leader in your workplace, a caring and present partner, and someone who treats themself with respect and kindness.
My Approach
I use approaches that match what communities of color (like the one I grew up in) have known all along: our bodies and spirits must be part of our healing. When we treat the mind as entirely separate, we end up treating ourselves in parts, when in reality, you’re a whole human being.
In my practice, I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) aka Parts Work (yes, it’s the idea that the movie Inside Out is based on) and Brainspotting. Both of these models allow us to work with both your thoughts and your body.
What’s more important than the models I use is the relationship you have with me. The research shows over and over again that how you feel toward your therapist (aka the therapeutic alliance) is the number one indicator of positive outcomes in therapy.
I Believe in Mental Health Care That is Decolonial and Liberatory
The mental health field has roots that are a bit freaky (and not in a way that’s fun nor consensual). That’s why I’m part of the wave of therapists who are centering soul, spirit, cultural practices, and methods that go beyond traditional talk therapy.
I believe that joy and healing are possible for us all. Therapy isn’t meant to be a space to help you adapt to oppression. It is, however, a space where we can co-create practices in your life that reconnect you to who you truly are.
I’m proud to do this work, just as I’m proud to come from a lineage of outsiders, rejects, and weirdos — people who exist along the margins and dwell in the thresholds.
